Partial Amendment to the Electric Utility Act
전기사업법 일부개정법률안
Summary
PublicThree member bills seek to amend the Electric Utility Act to establish a new category of electricity business for entities constructing shared grid connection facilities used jointly by multiple renewable energy generators, particularly large-scale offshore wind and solar projects. The bill was discarded on 2026-08-20 after being reflected in a committee alternative.
Reasons for proposal and main contents
Excerpt from the billRecently, with the increase in renewable energy power plants, such as offshore wind power and solar power plants, it has become necessary to construct power grid connection facilities for transmission, distribution, etc. that are jointly used by multiple renewable energy electricity generation business entities (hereinafter referred to as "shared connection facilities"), and it is necessary to establish a special purpose company (SPC) for this purpose.
However, because the current Act provides only for the traditional types of electric utility business, business entities intending to pursue the construction of shared connection facilities have not been given legal status as electric utility business entities, which has made it difficult to build shared connection facilities.
